How did the bends from decompression sickness get its name? - decompression sickness more condition_symptoms

Seen after two cases of illness in my early years Decomp diving ... I think I have an idea how it got its name.

You probably already know that the disease is caused by Decomp grow too much nitrogen in the blood too quickly. If a diver is present, what are the symptoms or feelings?

How about dizziness, nausea creeping, debilitating weakness, extreme pain in the head and joint pain.

If you have some or most of these feelings, what would your reaction? What would you lean fall and curl around the pain, praying that leave? "

Thus the curves. It always is.

DCS is known as "The Bends" because how do people react, they are physically known. The pressure and joint pain caused people arch your back. Back in the late 1800s was a popular dance "Bend Greek", which looked very similar, hence the name.

In modern society, the name fits well because people are bent.
